Update: 11/17/17 – We are about to start a new run of Picketposts. We don’t have a completion date for this run yet, but we’ll try to get at least some of them finished in time for Christmas orders this year.
The Picketpost is a bikepacking style seatbag, expandable in size with compression straps. It is designed specifically for hardtail bikes, and maximizes use of the space behind the seatpost. It requires at least 7″ of exposed seatpost to fit.
The bag has a plastic stiffener on the bottom and can compress vertically with straps to your seat rails. This helps to avoid rear wheel interference on bikes where clearance is tight, and it also adds some stability to the bag. The bag closes with a roll top from the rear, which allows for more control over the volume.
The Picketpost now comes with a seam-sealed construction method. It involves a different method of finishing the seams, followed by seam sealing. This does not make the bag 100% waterproof, but increases water resistance significantly. Based on the testing I’ve done I’d expect it to be watertight for anything shy of immersion.
The Picketpost has a minimum packed size of 6 liters (a bit smaller if you remove the bottom stiffener) and a maximum of 13 liters.
NOTE: Customers who bought a Picketpost before I added the bottom stiffener (pictured) can have one added to their bags for free – contact me for details.
The Picketpost is named after one of the best sections of the Arizona Trail.
